Domestic Violence Project
The domestic violence project that I worked with and photographed for was a short video that really puts domestic violence into perspective for those who are otherwise ignorant about relationship abuse or just those who have been through it and need help understanding. The video was created by myself and Kendall Phillips for a personal health class at UNCG. Kendall Phillips came up with the concept and put the video together and I of course, took and edited the photos.
The concept of domestic violence has changed over the years from being something no one talks about to something we need to talk about. Domestic and relationship abuse can severely damage the psyche of everyone involved and can be very hard to break out of. The video goes over the three main stages of domestic violence, Tension Building phase, Battery phase, and the "Honeymoon" phase. It shows that couples stuck in this sort of relationship really do believe they love each other but somehow cannot see how toxic these actions and behaviors can be. Understanding domestic violence is the first step in ending abuse. Please watch the video below. If you have a slow internet connection try opening the video up on youtube. It seems to to play better on there anyway.
